- --Project Galileo --
- Project Galileo is a National Science Foundation-funded web server, the mission of which is to provide materials and strategies for improving undergraduate science education. Many of the strategies are just as suitable for high school as for undergraduate courses. Galileo offers a careful look at several pedagogical strategies, including sample materials for use with that strategy. To be featured, a strategy must have been class-tested at multiple institutions, and demonstrably add to student learning in some way. Galileo also offers extensive materials for teaching with Peer Instruction, including a searchable database of physics ConcepTests and links to databases of ConcepTests for chemistry and astronomy. Registered users of Galileo are encouraged to contribute ConcepTests that they have developed to the database. A number of other resources are available for Peer Instruction users, including utilities to generate class-ready materials from the ConcepTest database. Finally, we are conducting an international survey of instructors who have used a strategy like Peer Instruction to find out what implementation factors contribute to its success, and what environments it can work in.
